In 2018, a series of personal experiences opened my eyes to the deep cracks in Nigeria’s healthcare system cracks that often go unseen until lives are lost.
It started with what many patients in Nigeria face daily unprofessional treatment, lack of empathy, and zero accountability in healthcare delivery. I witnessed situations where health workers spoke to patients carelessly and doctors acted as though responsibility ended at diagnosis. Perhaps some were overworked, but exhaustion should never justify neglect or a lack of compassion.
One particular incident left a lasting mark on me. A close friend, in the middle of an asthma attack, drove herself to the hospital. Instead of being attended to immediately, she was told the doctor was eating. She never made it out.
That single event changed everything for me.
It revealed a painful truth that in many cases, patients in Nigeria are left vulnerable not only because of limited resources but because of a lack of transparency and accountability.
That was the moment I decided something had to change.
I wanted to build a platform where patients could share honest feedback about their healthcare experiences, without fear or exposure. A place where their voices could lead to meaningful change.
That idea became SafeguardNG.

At first, SafeguardNG was simply a review and feedback platform for hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers across Nigeria. But over time, it evolved into something far more powerful.
Today, reviews on SafeguardNG are confidential, giving users the freedom to share genuine experiences. Our proprietary SafeguardNG algorithm analyzes verified feedback and data to generate a single SafeScore a measure of how safe and trustworthy a healthcare provider truly is.
Our mission is simple:
To make transparency, accountability, and patient trust the foundation of healthcare in Nigeria.
The response so far has been inspiring with over 10,000 visits in the past month, people are showing that they care deeply about safer, more transparent healthcare.
SafeguardNG was born out of pain, but it continues with purpose.
We’re building a system where patients are heard, providers are accountable, and safety is measurable.
Because no one should ever have to question whether the care they receive is safe.
